You probably already have an eyebrow routine that you love and adore, but what if we told you that you could skip that entirely and have an extra 15 minutes of sleep in the morning? Believe us, it’s possible—all thanks to the new peel-off makeup trend!
Peel-off makeup, as skeptical as you might be while reading that, is exactly what it sounds like. They’re products that you put on your face, wait to dry, and then peel off like those temporary tattoos. The trend has been around for a few years in Korea, starting with Berrisom’s lip tints that have the same texture as glue. They became popular for their unique concept and impressive staying power, but it was only recently that the beauty community outside Korea caught on and experienced it themselves.
This was when Asian beauty giant Etude House introduced the Tint My Brows Gel, a new product that stains brows like an eyebrow tattoo for a fourth of the price.
The product comes in a tube similar to what one might expect from mascara, and has a brush tip applicator. All you have to do is to paint the shape you want on your brows and leave the product on for at least two hours before peeling it off to reveal your new arch. While the tint can be a bit painful to peel off for some, it leaves an impressive natural tint that gives the illusion of a fuller brow. Watch the video below to see how it works.
Perhaps we are yet to get our hands on a more practical brow routine substitute, but the hype that comes with the peel-off trend goes to show that K-beauty is already on to something. The craze has definitely pushed more beauty junkies to keep closer tabs on Asian beauty brands, and we can't help but wonder what they’ll give us next.
