Cara Delevingne debuted her new undercut at the W Magazine Golden Globes party at the Chateau Marmont in LA.
Wearing a body skimming white dress with black mesh peek-a-boos, she posed for a selfie with model Toni Garrn. Tilting her head to favor her left side, she flashed a shaved patch of skin, made visible by braiding the hair right on top of it.
She wore a similar side-braid that gave a faux-shorn effect to the punk-themed Met Ball, where she clinked glasses with pal Rihanna, who's been side-shaving since 2012. The trend got its start from model and socialite Alice Dellal, Delevingne's fellow Brit who teamed it with ombré and ratchet curls. That whole look then became a thing among tattooed rock chicks, until it stopped looking cool and just plain dirty.
Grow your hair back and forth. (Rihanna, Willow Smith and Alice Dellal)
Delevingne's version, to be fair, isn't as severe as Dellal's or even Riri's. If her hair wasn't braided, you might not even see it, as if she wanted to go all the way but suddenly got razor-shy.
Shocking, as the model and current Penshoppe endorser isn't known to be timid. On top of flashing funny faces at the paparazzi or on Instagram, she made waves last year for dating actress Michelle Rodriguez and beaching topless in Mexico on their romantic getaway. Cultivating a cool-girl persona, she also singlehandedly made tomboy style a thing. But this time we think she missed the boat on this hair transformation. Even Willow Smith beat her to it.
