A modest approach to cap off  a rough 2013 is to ride on the social media movement, #GivingTuesday where a person takes an #Unselfie with a piece of paper covering her face, written with her charity of choice. Anne Curtis was more than willing to be the anti-cover girl of this month's Preview Magazine. With a piece of paper covering 80% of her head, she didn't mind not having her face flashing on the cover. And even at that, the cover became a trending topic last Saturday after its release.

Unlike most Preview covers where a certain celebrity becomes the center of attention, this December, it shifts the focus to a bigger persona than any other celebrity—the Filipino.  This year was tough for most of our fellow Filipinos what with all the events that transpired in the past months: the Zamboanga crisis, Bohol earthquake, and Super Typhoon Yolanda. Countless lives have been taken, and we, as a country, became united. 

Anne was pretty brave to face the lenses with almost no makeup, again, a move against the protocol of cover shoots that require layers of foundation to achieve picture perfect beauty.  After all, this cover is not about her, it's about our nation.
