After winning your battle with a bad breakout, you'll be inevitably faced with a newer and tougher enemy—acne scars. And to help you wield your weapons against this skin monster, a consistent skin care routine with the essential healing products is key. Ready? Check out our step-by-step recommendations below!
Step 1: Makeup Remover
Before tackling any skin issue with products, your face needs to be clean first of all. Use cleansing oil, micellar water, or any makeup remover of your choice to remove dirt, oil, and grime.

Step 2: Cleanser
For problematic skin, it's highly recommended to double cleanse after removing your makeup. This makes sure that anything that might clog your pores and irritate your skin is out of the picture. And, as always, choose a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin's natural oils.

Step 3: Mask/Peel
Treating yourself to a purifying mask or peel at least once a week will clean out your pores and help prevent new breakouts and scarring. Masks are more powerful than cleansers in this way because they stay on your skin longer, which means that they can attack any skin issues your cleanser doesn't have the chance to.

Step 4: Exfoliating Toner
To prep your skin for all the good stuff, prime it with a gentle and exfoliating toner. A soothing one with aloe vera that's infused with an exfoliating ingredient like glycolic acid should do the trick!

Step 5: Vitamin C Serum
We can't rave about Vitamin C enough. It's the greatest companion to battling acne scars because of its exfoliating and brightening properties that can improve any texture and discoloration on the skin. To squeeze its full potential, pat a thin layer on your face with your palms (four drops will do!) and let it absorb for around 10 minutes before moving on. We recommend using this one at night since it can make your makeup do the slip 'n slide!

Step 6: Spot Treatment
This step is optional, but if you have scars that are particularly dark and need special attention, you can spot treat it with another Vitamin C product to boost the cell turnover of that particular area.

Step 7: Overall Skin Treatment
Acne scars aside, don't forget to look after your skin's general well-being. Incorporate a serum with anti-aging and purifying properties that'll make your skin more resilient and reduce the possibility of new breakouts.

Step 8: Moisturizer
Seal in all your hardwork with a moisturizer you trust. For your daytime moisturizer, it doesn't have to be anything but hydrating, but for your nighttime routine, something with a brightening ingredient like niacinamide can level up your routine's effectiveness!

Step 9: Sunscreen
When trying to heal scarring, your worst enemy is the sun. Because not only does it cause skin aging, unprotected exposure to UV rays can also darken hyperpigmentation. To combat this, apply sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 before you leave the house.
