Skincare fans, it looks like the cult beauty brand The Ordinary is closing down until further notice—according to an Instagram post on Deciem's (The Ordinary's parent company) account made by its founder, Brandon Truaxe.
In the video, Brandon announces: "This is the final post of Deciem, which we will shut down all operations until further notice, which will be about two months." He continues, "Almost everyone at Deciem has been involved in a major criminal activity, which includes financial crimes and much other. You have no idea what a soldier I've been for more than 13 years." The video shot in the back of a car is very raw and emotional and we're hoping nothing is final yet.
Deciem launched The Ordinary in 2013 and has since gained a cult following, thanks to their wallet-friendly yet effective, no-nonsense skincare products. Their most popular products include the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which helps reduce the appearance of blemishes; the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, which helps hydrate skin from below the surface; and the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which treats acne while soothing the skin and refining texture.
While we're still hoping that none of this is true, we're using this sad news as an excuse to hoard all our The Ordinary favorites. That said, you can still shop for The Ordinary products from the following local retailers:
