As inviting as leisurely pre-bed time pampering sounds, a busy worker bee such as myself finds it hard to fight the drowsiness brought on by a normal day’s 12-hour shift. To be completely honest, there have been many nights in the past two weeks that I’ve been falling asleep still dressed in my work clothes. (Gross, but true.) Even on days off, I end up waiting for the clock to strike at 3am before I go to bed because I’ve gotten used to being a nocturnal zombie. That isn’t even the worst part, as the stress and lack of sleep manifests itself on my skin, making me look dry as Graham cracker.
La Mer Renewal Oil, P12,050, Rustan's
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, P5500, Rustan's
Over the course of the last four-day weekend, the excessive energy I had from doing nothing all day allowed me to toy with some of the samples I’ve been keeping in my beauty cabinet. My initial thoughts: “Why not combine two skin-renewing products to up the fresh-faced factor?” The first product I decided to open was La Mer’s Renewal Oil which literally made me wake up feeling like I had been raised from the dead. Using it on top of Estee Lauder’s Advance Night Repair (my secret weapon to faking a good night’s sleep thanks to its ChronoluxCB™ that goes deep into skin to boost its natural repair rhythm), I slathered three drops of the clear golden liquid all over my face and neck to see if it’s worth the buck. (As you know, their merch does not come cheap.) Living up to the promise stated in the online reviews, the product made with oceanic essences, eucalyptus and sesame oils, and the brand’s ever famous sea kelp-infused Miracle Broth made a huge difference come Easter morning as I woke up to smooth, supple, and plumped skin. No one would have been able to tell that I only had less than 5 hours of sleep. Definitely worth purchasing if you’ve got the extra bills to spend.
