From a pool of more than 60,000 students, two teams composed of three participants were crowned winners of this year’s international L’Oreal Brandstorm competition in Clichy France: Team Brand Up from the University of Chile and Team Eves from our very own University of the Philippines.
An inter-country competition which challenges students to propose a product or service for one of the 27 L’Oreal owned brands, Brandstorm has been around since 1993 running for six months from start to finish. This year’s contest put the spotlight on The Body Shop, with executives from both the brand and L’Oreal assisting each local group through the entire process.
Composed of Stephanie Gabaldon, Regina Dimayuga and Ivania Sy, all Business Economics majors from U.P.’s class of 2012, Team Eves’ win came from their conceptualization of the child-friendly line, Bath Buddies. Targeted towards children aged 3-8, the line of soap, shampoo, bubble bath, lotion and powder was envisioned to stay true to the brand by using only community fair trade materials as ingredients. Each bottle was also to feature an endangered animal in the packaging to help jumpstart environmental awareness from a young age. The team walked away with a trip to a city of their choice, a prize amounting to 10,000 Euros.
Employer Branding Director of L’Oréal, Marie-Dominique Jacquet, said of this year’s Brandstorm offering, “I am deeply impressed by these students from all over the world and bravo to each and every one for having taken up the Brandstorm challenge. Through Brandstorm, we are able to spot and attract the best young talents who are the driving force behind our business.
Looking forward, L’Oréal is committed to continuously developing and innovating Brandstorm in order to make it pertinent and exciting for the students. The 2013 edition will see this unique business game enter a new digital phase with the L’Oréal Paris brand.”
Congratulations Team Eves!
