Paris, 1948, a doctor named Danielle Roches was working at Hôpitaux de Paris caring for victims of the ongoing World War II. To treat burns on the eye area of her patients, Danielle formulated her own cream using a mixture of herbs and natural ingredients. As the weeks progressed, she realized that healing wounds were not the only effect of the cream—her patients had also grown longer lashes and thicker eyebrows. Thus it was at this hospital 60 years ago that Danielle by pure chance discovered the wonder solution at the heart of the Talika products.
Six decades later, Talika has finally come to Manila. The reason for the long wait? Francois Laurent, Marketing Director for the brand explained that for years, Talika, although present in boutiques all around the world, was for the most part a very quiet, underground brand. But with the growing demand for more luscious lashes in the past few years, they have expanded to more than 50 countries, the latest being right here.
Named after an Egyptian queen, Francois explained why the company took on the name, “This Egyptian goddess transmitted power through her eyes. Conviction is also from the eyes. You see a person’s character through the eyes. They always say that the eyes are the windows to the soul and all this is what she (Danielle) was trying to convey through the name Talika.”
