Surface Tensions

Lancôme shows you how to treat skin right.
Surface Tensions Lancôme shows you how to treat skin right.
Q: “All this pre-holiday stress is making my skin dull and splotchy. I need something to help revitalize a tired complexion, preferably something convenient I can squeeze in between a busy day.”

A: As tempting as it is to play guerilla bathroom doctor with self-medicating with various products, and with all the beauty brands in the market claiming to do this and that, how do you know what to spend your precious pesos on and how to proceed? The only way to really fix a skin problem is to first figure out what it is.

Lancôme Paris Diagnôs Expert Machine

Enter Diagnôs Expert. A treatment made using a special machine called the Electroesthetic Column, it sees everything beneath the surface: fine lines, melanin damage and imperfections; it also measures oiliness, hydration, and elasticity; lastly, it figures out your skin's general condition.

Initially, the thought of your skin being under the complete and utter scrutiny of a stranger, magnified dozens of times over, is a bit horrifying. Curiosity will eventually win you over, though, in a sort of “What are all those spots on and underneath my skin and how can I fix it?” kind of way. It's certainly more thorough than the superficial once-over most facialists give before starting a treatment. The best part is that once the analysis is done, you can choose which of the problem areas you'd like to target and get the corresponding Lancôme facial for it.

The Facial

The treatment room is well-hidden in Lancôme's Greenbelt 5 boutique. It's like entering a serene white niche that has maximum privacy. A nice little soundtrack was specially created to help customers relax.

The Menu
There are nine treatments on offer from the boutique, namely, Extreme Purity (P1900), Re-Hydrating (P2200), Youthful Radiance/Primordiale (P2700), Renergie Rare/Toning and Firming (P3200), Absolue/Deep Replenishing for Mature Skin/ (P3700), Secret de Vie (P4500), Extreme Purity Facial for Men (P1900) and Eye (P1400) and Whitening Treatments (P2700). Clients may avail of whichever they prefer with the help of a professional diagnosis from well-trained aestheticians.

Tried and Tested Verdict

The aesthetician did an excellent job. Every step was explained in a non-imposing manner. Her touch was light and soothing, and the products, lightly-scented, smelled so nice and left me feeling completely refreshed afterwards. Ever-prepared, she even came over to me with a bit of Juicy Tube lip gloss for a quick retouch before sending me on my way.

It's the best mid-shopping break I've ever taken.
