We're always on the lookout for longwearing foundations, and the failproof way to make sure that a formula really lasts is to wear it at the peak of summer. Hence, that's exactly what we did! Ahead, see the Preview team's review on five foundations to test if it will withstand the blistering heat. Read how formulas from Dior, Guerlain, Nars, Revlon, and Vice Cosmetics performed!

1. Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation

Reviewed by: Steph Sison, Editorial Assistant

Skin type: Dry to combination

Skin tone: Fair with cool undertones

I'm not one to use foundation because I've always found them too heavy, but this just might be the exception. The shade 1.5N blended seamlessly into my skin, blurring what needs to be blurred, without the sticky or cakey feeling. It has a smooth, slightly watery texture, which makes it super easy to apply and blend. It seeps into the skin like magic so you’re sure it wont budge—especially if you set it with a light dusting of loose powder or with a quick spritz of setting spray.

I found that one pump of the product is enough for me, and one layer makes the high points of my face look brighter and dewy. When I get lazy, I use it to conceal only my dark under eye circles and spots. The formula may be sheer, but it's definitely buildable and lasts all day! For a "glass skin" type of look, I mix a half pump of the foundation with liquid highlighter and apply the mixture all over my face. The result? Dewy dumpling skin that doesn’t crease or cake!

Overall, I loved it! I think I'm more inclined to use foundation now since it’s super light, non-sticky, lasts all day, and has a natural-looking finish. The product does the bulk of the work for you—all you need is to find the right shade.

2. Guerlain L'Essentiel Natural Glow 16H Wear SPF 20

Reviewed by: Nicole Arcano, Beauty Assistant

Skin type: Oily and acne-prone

Skin tone: Medium with neutral undertones

I haven't had much luck with "natural" foundations. They're always either too sheer or too greasy for my skin type, but not this one. The L'Essentiel has a 97% naturally-derived ingredients and promises a natural glow finish and 16-hour wear. When applied, it gives a light yet buildable coverage that doesn't feel heavy. Just make sure to apply in thin layers, because this tends to cling to dry patches if you aren't careful.

Although it promises a glowy finish, it actually didn't make me look like an oil slick! It appeared semi-matte when applied over a water-based moisturizer. On a particularly hot day, it does show signs of fading after six hours but it fades very gracefully. When indoors, however, it can stay perfectly intact for 10 hours or longer.

While I wouldn't say that this is the most budgeproof foundation, I think it's a comfortable option for everyday use in the summer. It evens out my skin well and has SPF 20 and pollution protection to match, so I really don't mind that it can't last me through a heavy workout. The fact that it looks good even after six hours is impressive enough!

3. Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

Reviewed by: Nicole

Skin type: Oily and acne-prone

Skin tone: Medium with neutral undertones

Since it's called a natural and radiant foundation, I thought the product would be more on the sheer side—but boy, was I wrong. This foundation is very creamy and high coverage (I'd say medium to full) and a little goes a long way. I barely have to apply concealer after, too! That said, being full coverage means it has to be blended seamlessly, so be prepared with your brushes and beauty sponges. Don't worry because it blends like a dream and won't cling to any dry patches!

This foundation gives me a natural finish—nothing too matte or dewy. It doesn't feel tacky either so you could get away with not setting it with powder. Since I'm oily, I do apply a light layer of translucent loose powder and it doesn't budge after that. It lasts a full 10 hours, and I bet it could last for 16 hours if I wore it that long. Although I do get oily three hours after application, that's just how my skin is with most formulas.

Overall, this has officially become my new go-to foundation for events or special occasions. The coverage, finish, and staying power are all impressive even on my oily skin and the humid weather. It doesn't feel heavy at all, and it doesn't move or crack even when I blot, which is always a big plus! If applied and set properly, this formula can definitely last all day and night.

4. Revlon Colorstay Full Cover Foundation

Reviewed by: Maura Rodriguez, Associate Social Media Editor

Skin type: Oily and acne-prone

Skin tone: Fair with yellow undertones

I use the shade 210 of Revlon's Colorstay Full Cover foundation. It's sort of a mousse-like cream that feels whipped and looks matte right off the squeeze. I usually apply it with my fingers or a brush for full coverage, but sometimes I opt for a sponge application if I want a more skin-like effect.

The formula is super matte and it really lasts the whole day! The foundation sets quite powdery even without dabbing some powder on. It also covers most of my acne and blemishes even with just one layer. It's also buildable and you won't be scared to layer on concealer if needed. Given that I commute—ride a jeep and take the MRT daily—this foundation manages to stay on, sweat and all! My skin is quite sensitive to Western makeup brands but this one from Revlon is such a good fit and I haven't broken out because of it. It’s definitely my new go-to!

5. Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation

Reviewed by: Yanna Lopez, Editorial Assistant

Skin type: Oily and acne-prone

Skin tone: Fair with warm undertones

When I put this foundation on, I realized right away that I had no idea why I'd never considered trying a powder foundation before. I struggle with acne, and because of a very strong cocktail of derma-prescribed topical meds I'm on, I'm constantly flaking and liquid formulas tend to cake and look terrible. I've completely given up on wearing any makeup at all.

The shade Kinesa was a tad too warm for me, so I remedied by applying it very thinly. I think, though, that if I had gotten the right shade, there would be no problem piling on a layer more. It masked redness pretty well—concealer unnecessary.

While I'd still prefer to go completely barefaced, the Duo Finish Foundation has proven a suitable option for when I do need to spruce up a little. It's surprisingly full-coverage and keeps oil at bay wonderfully (the merits of powder!), but, a warning: Make sure you pat it on evenly, as it may cling to patches. After working up a light sweat taking OOTDs in the BGC heat (LOL), it did wear off a bit, but altogether stayed satisfyingly matte. It lasts me almost 12 hours most days!
