It’s official—the '70s shag is one of the trendiest cuts this summer. But compared to the top-heavy and lengthy layers that legends like Farrah Fawcett and Stevie Nicks had back then, the modern shag is a little more balanced in weight and focuses more on creating sexy, textured layers that fall just above the shoulders. It’s another gorgeous, jaw-dropping makeover for Anne Hathaway! When celeb hairstylist Adir Abergel debuted her look on Instagram, it got so much buzz that he shared more deets about her ’do the next day!

In the caption, he revealed that this cut is actually perfect for those with straight or wavy hair and even included a mini tutorial on how you can cop her wavy texture.


Keep reading for a brief rundown of the steps below:

1. Apply a volumizing product on damp hair and “rough dry” until it’s completely dry.

2. Use a one-inch curling iron to add “some random waves.” 

3. “Break down the texture” with a little mousse and shine serum from the ends going towards the roots before diffusing the product into your hair. 

Note: If you already have wavy hair, you can skip a lot of these steps and just do the last step.
