Little has changed since Ruffa Gutierrez wowed the crowd in South Africa as Miss World Philippines 1993. She's still as queenly as can be in her 40s, thanks to her timeless beauty and youthful energy. Don't believe us? Maybe a few throwback photos will.
Last May 16, Ruffa posted photos from her pageant days on Instagram reels. The first set featured shots from almost 30 years ago, when the actress was the newly-crowned Binibining Pilipinas-World. She was only 18 years old at the time!
In 2017, Ruffa posted a similar photo and reminisced about her time as Miss World Philippines.
"18 years old, super fresh and sitting on top of the world. Thank you Lord for giving me a beautiful life. [emojis] And to all of you who have seen me grow up to be the woman I am today," she said.
"Through ups and downs... through heartbreaks and victories...through hardships and success....Maraming Salamat! I know I will forever be your Miss World. Mahal ko kayong lahat."
Ruffa won 2nd Princess or 2nd runner-up in Miss World 1993. Her Binibining Pilipinas batchmates were Melinda "Dindy" Gallardo (Universe), Sheela Mae Santarin (International), and Ana Maria Gonzalez (Look of the Year).
The former beauty queen also shared a photo of herself wearing a hijab a decade after the pageant. "In 2004 I was a Muslim living in Istanbul named Yasmeen. Time flies," she wrote on the caption.
In the comments section, netizens had only praises for Ruffa's timeless beauty. Someone even called her a "vampire," while another user urged her to join Mrs. World!
Now 47 years old, Ruffa continues to work as an actress and TV host. She has two daughters, Lorin and Venice Gutierrez Bektas, and is currently in the process of completing her bachelor's degree in Communication Arts at the Philippine Women's University. She will be graduating in July 2022.
