On the cover of Esquire Philippines, the actor got candid about turning 50 soon and how his body is gradually feeling his age. Despite this, he has his regimens and rituals that keep him in check—one of which is his preference for scents.

"I like to mix and match. I don't just do one scent. I look for something citrusy and musky, and I always combine those two," he tells Preview. Piolo divulges that he gets his perfumes from Fueguia, a niche fragrance brand from Argentina.

What Is Perfume Brand Fueguia?

For the uninitiated, Fueguia is a perfume house founded by artist Julian Bedel, which presently operates out of Milan, Italy. The brand prides itself on "ethnobotanical perfumery," which speaks to its commitment to artisanal processes and environmental respect. Most, if not all, of their scents draw inspiration from natural wafts.

"My approach to scent has always been driven by connecting with the divine, in a way," Julian states. "Humans, anthropologically, have been looking into our metaphysical rituals to incorporate scent, to kind of amplify whatever thing we were trying to do."

While Piolo didn't specify which scents he mixes and matches, two of Fueguia's star formulas do follow a musky-citrusy formula. The Muskara Aquilara is an earthy concoction derived from South Asian and South American woods, while the Humboldt is inspired by the zesty essence of fruit markets. Combining both results into a warm, lingering aroma that diffuses into a light fruitiness throughout the day.
