To celebrate International Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, over 70 countries came under the Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign theme World Pink. World Without Breast Cancer.™ Wear a Pink Ribbon, Make a Difference. The movement, spearheaded by Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. and Alexandra Penney, ex-Editor-in-Chief of SELF Magazine, began in 1992 and 17 years (and millions of dollars earned for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation) later, the campaign progresses another year with the participation of worldwide partners all united under one banner: spreading awareness.

Last October 9-11, 2009, well-recognized labels like Aramis fragrances, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estée Lauder and La Mer held a Wellness Weekend at Rustan's Makati's Heaven on the 5th to join the fight against the disease. Workshops like yoga sessions from the Iyengar Yoga Center Manila Studio (IYCM), a “Go Organic” cooking demo by chefs from InterContintenal Hotel, fragrance profiling, dermatologist consultations and skin profiling, compact engraving, various treatments and makeup tutorials were all available for interested parties—firstly, for members of this year's BCA Campaign's supportees, the ICanServe Foundation on October 9th, a non-stock that focuses on aggressive information dissemination for early detection of breast cancer, then opening for the general public for the rest of the pink-centric weekend.
