The last few years have seen a rise in the use of essential oils in skincare, hair care, wellness and more. But more than it being a trend, using plant-derived natural remedies is actually a centuries old tradition that has proven its mettle over time in being effective.
It must be said, however, that getting started with the use of oils and making blends is quite an investment, with starter kits from the bigger brands starting at over P6000. Becoming an “oiler” also requires that you put in the time to research about the different essential oils, application methods, and more.
If, like me, you feel overwhelmed by both the cost and effort, but would still like to see if you can benefit from essential oils, there’s good news to be had. More and more homegrown beauty brands now offer blends on retail. One such brand is Pili Ani. As the name suggests, their skin care, makeup and essential oils contain local pili nut oil, which has antioxidants to protect skin from free radicals and essential fatty acids to nourish and hydrate. Their oil blends also contain elemi oil, derived from the resin of our native elemi tree, which has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties.
Pili has 5 essential oil blends that offer remedies for common concerns like stress, nasal congestion, difficulty sleeping, insect bites, and drowsiness. And while you can purchase each separately in 6ml (P265) or 10ml (P375) bottles, they also offer a handy Travel Kit (P1350/6ml bottles and P1850/10ml bottles) containing all the variants, with the slim glass roller bottles packed neatly in a metal case. It’s a great way to sample their products and, as I’ve found, have these helpful oils within arm’s reach at any time.
So do these blends work? Here’s a list of the variants below, with personal insight after having used them for the last 6 months. If you feel you’re ready to give these a try, you can easily order a set, or individual bottles via the Pili Ani website.
