That divine YSL Muse may remain as elusive as ever, but there is a way to have your haute designer fix and wear it, too.

Fragrance, as every woman worth her salt knows, is one of the easiest ways to venture into couture. Expert perfumer Jean-Pierre Grivory, the nose behind the femme fatale Morgan de Toi line and Charriol's latest osmatic offerings Eau de Toilette Pour Femme et Pour Homme, has said that he considers fragrance to actually be the first layer of clothing worn—it is, indeed, the closest to skin.

Choosing and wearing your scent is an extremely intimate process, one that shouldn't be rushed or trivialized, mood swings or trends be damned. Wearing a signature scent is much like falling in love: there's sexy packaging, clever marketing and a whole lot of chemistry involved. When all fits, sparks fly and an enduring affair begins, regardless of name or status. After all, a rose by any other brand would smell as sweet—but when the inside is as sublime as the outside? A match made in olfactory heaven.
