Mixology By Pureology Style Bible tests the newest exclusive hair service.

Atop the uber sleek Greenbelt 5, home of luxury international brands and ingenious local designers, lies Studio Fix by Alex Carbonell—a fitting setting for one of Manila's top hair stylists.

Launching their newest service, a hair care bar called Mixology by Pureology, Jacque de Borja (Editorial Assistant) and I arrived to discover whether treatment could address our hair needs. A collection of four different lines—Hydrate, EssentialRepair, PureVolume, SuperSmooth, the Mixology's unique spin is that each treatment is customized for each client. After proper consultation, shampoos, conditioners and masks are mixed and matched to achieve maximum personalized results.

Upon entering we were greeted by Alex himself who showed us to our comfy salon chairs and talked to us individually about our hair concerns while running his fingers through our tresses to properly diagnose what we might need. Our individual concerns were as opposite as you can get—Jacque's problem was breathing life into her thin limp locks while mine was taming my unruly thick strands.

Alex then ticked off boxes in his customer sheet, prescribing the PureVolume treatment for Jacque and the SuperSmooth for myself. After washing our hair with the chosen shampoo and conditioner, masques were applied, with the hair technician painting the cream onto sections of our hair to ensure that every surface was covered.

The end result after a quick blowdry made us both smile from ear to ear. My once heavy hair now felt light and feathery. I loved how sleek it made my usually frizzy hair.

Jacque on the other hand liked how her usually flat locks turned bouncy, which gave the illusion of fuller hair. Although the treatment washes out after the next shampoo, it can be done as often as once or twice a week for those looking to reap the continuous benefits of the Pureology line. The shampoos, conditioners, and masques are also available for sale so you can take home your recommended hair care system or even leave them at the salon for your next visit.

In the end, our final verdict is that Mixology by Pureology is a great affordable choice for a quick pick-me-up when your hair is looking a little lackluster. That alone is reason enough to come back for a second round.
