We grew up watching beauty pageants, and it was pretty common to see ALL the candidates sport long hair. Some would have voluminous waves, while others chose to wear it sleek and straight. So, we were delighted to see Miss Cavite Kimberly "Billie" Hakenson break stereotypes at Miss Universe Philippines 2020.

She stood out in the sea of ladies who all wore their hair long. You could easily recall her because of her pixie cut, big, beautiful eyes, and confidence.

When you choose a pixie cut as your new look, expect to shock a lot of people (it's a good thing, BTW). Chopping off a huge amount of hair certainly equates to a dramatic hair transformation, and you'll also stand out from everyone. If you find yourself wanting a drastic change, check out these reminders first before booking a salon appointment.

We would also like to point out that apart from her unique hairstyle, Billie stood out because she has been vocal about breaking gender stereotypes. Her Q&A answer during the Top 16 portion was the talk of the town—netizens were quickly impressed by her response to the question: "Throughout this journey, you have discovered you are a phenomenal woman who is conditioned for greater. How can you create a positive and lasting impact to the world around you?"

She responded, "I was a survivor of gender-based abuse and without knowing it, maybe so are you. I am not here to just be a voice, I am here to amplify voices because we will not be silenced by fear anymore. We are here to be empowered by truth." Her answer deserves a round of applause and a standing ovation!

She also introduced herself as bisexual in the Miss Universe preliminaries, which she clarified that it was a coming-out moment but a reiteration of her truth. In an Instagram post she said:

"I did not come out. I certainly did not come out on the Miss Universe Philippines stage. I simply reiterated my truth.

"I am bisexual. While who I love, and have loved, does not define the core of my being, I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

"This journey is dedicated to every single person who has been pigeonholed, discriminated, or dehumanized for their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. May we no longer be silenced by fear, but empowered by our truth and the support of our allies. "
