Behind every comeback comes a reckoning—a pivotal moment when one dares to be stronger, bolder, and unstoppable for the day they step right back into the spotlight. This comeback is not a scramble for lost ground, but a mental, emotional, and physical preparation for an intentional, powerful act of renewal.
Hair beauty brand Dove calls this movement the Reborn Theory. It’s the idea that time away is never wasted, but used to rebuild, return, and be reborn with intention. And just as transformation begins within, it’s often mirrored outward from the way one carries herself, down to every strand of hair that signals strength restored. Because a powerful comeback starts with a strong hair moment.

Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Collab Edition alumni Mika Salamanca, AC Bonifacio, and Ashley Ortega are living proof that this is possible. This is why Dove celebrates these inspiring young women as the epitome of its Reborn Theory.
In an interview with Preview.ph, these young women opened up about their unfiltered moments, quiet resilience, and the lessons that have shaped them. For them, hair isn't just part of the picture; it's a storyteller, narrating their journey from damaged to reborn, visibly, unapologetically, and undeniably stronger.
Long before winning as one half of the PBB Big Winner duo, Mika has always had a voice. First, as a young girl dreaming big, and now as a content creator and public figure. But her strength today doesn’t just come from being heard; it’s from being true to herself. Once the subject of online backlash, Mika now stands in the spotlight with no need to explain or change who she is for anyone else. She remains focused on her passion for singing—a dream her younger self has always had.
“Wala talagang nakakakita ng mga struggles ko sa buhay, only music and my pen,” Mika shares. “Very personal siya sa akin kaya ngayong taon lang talaga ako nagkaroon ng lakas na ilabas na yung mga kanta ko at i-express yung sarili ko.”

However, even before she could put her own songs into the world, Mika’s presence had already found its way online. Snippets of her younger self singing in front of the camera have recently gone viral, showcasing that mix of charm and confidence.
“Akala ko pag nakita nila yung batang ako maba-bash na naman ako, pero nung nakita ko yung feedback ng mga tao, it was different from before. They love Mika liit [and that made me so happy,]” the aspiring singer gushes.
Still, online conversations about her past aren’t without their complexities. Previous missteps continue to surface, now amplified by the spotlight of PBB. Fortunately, years of creating content have taught her a rare skill: the art of standing steady. She meets the noise with a quiet assurance in who she is and where she’s headed.

What once weighed her down now fuels her forward. Like her hair, once weathered by damage, Mika’s journey is both a literal and symbolic transformation. Inside the PBB house, Mika’s simple act of letting her hair be and treating it with care mirrored the way she nurtured herself: with patience, intention, and consistent self-assurance.
To her younger self, the one who once wrote letters reminding her never to let her beauty fade, Mika says with a laugh and a lump in her throat: “She would be so proud.” Because in reclaiming her voice, the PBB winner has also reclaimed the joy of being seen exactly as she is—“true, bolder, and stronger.”
For AC, life has always been about movement. She started dancing at a young age, where she fell in love with the magnetic pulse of hip-hop. Audiences loved her energy and precision, but with a growing platform came public pressure and scrutiny, especially when she opened her world to millions by joining a reality show.
When asked how her life changed after joining PBB, AC acknowledges the wave of opinions that followed her. "Ngayon, there's a lot more eyes on me. But again, I know who I am. I know who the real AC is.”
With a confident smile, she says:
That self-assurance was built through years of discipline and experience in training and competing. It’s also rooted in the steadfast support of her family, especially her mother, whom she calls her greatest source of power.
“There are multiple moments where I wanted to quit, but my mom never made me feel pressured,” AC shares, her voice breaking as tears well up. “It just made me want to get over it so much more—to prove to these people who don't know me na, nandito ako for a reason.”

Today, AC continues to march to the beat of her own drum, focusing only on what matters. She moves with purpose, whether performing for a live audience or dancing alone in her room, where she says she feels most powerful. Dance, for AC, is more than performance; it's resilience in motion.

"Dance has made me so much more powerful, physically and mentally," she reflects. "[I've been rejected, lost competitions, and faced embarrassing moments on stage], but I kept pushing…[Even when] I was inside of the [PBB] house and how hard it got for me, I chose not to give up because when you're [feeling] so low, the only way is up."
Her hair tells that story, too. Now flaunting a vibrant red mane with sleek style, AC's new look is a testament to her fiery passion and a new era of her journey. Just like her craft, her hair is constantly evolving, a visual proof of how she resets and comes back stronger.

"As a human being, as an artist, as a dancer in every aspect, I have been reborn stronger. My mindset has changed, I've learned to appreciate so many things, and [to be grateful] for every little thing," AC shares.
Similar to AC, Ashley has also been a dedicated performer. Her journey, however, is a beautiful study in letting go. From a young age, she represented the Philippine team as a professional figure skater before transitioning gracefully into acting. While it may seem like two different worlds, at the heart of both was performing, and this is where Ashley had found her purpose.
“I just love [figure skating and acting] because I feel like I was meant to entertain people,” Ashley explains.
While Ashley embraced both passions, she also faced an unspoken expectation in each: to always deliver and be perfect. In figure skating, it meant winning medals; in acting, it meant taking on increasingly challenging roles. With an athlete’s mindset, she continually sought areas for improvement. That same discipline followed her into acting, where lights and cameras replaced rink-side spotlights, but the pressure stayed the same.

“There was a phase in my showbiz career [that] I thought I was really bad at acting…I felt like I was stagnant in my career,” the actress confessed. “I [thought] forever lang akong support kasi yung ibang mga ka-batch ko, nagle-lead na sila tapos ako nine years and I was just there… But then again, I never quit.”
Inside the PBB house, those pressures melted away, allowing her the space to be herself and to let go of her own expectations and those of others. Guided by Kuya, the ever-present, unseen mentor of PBB, she learned it was okay to show her vulnerable side and to stop trying to prove herself to anyone.

“I thought people wouldn't accept me for who I am. But it turns out it's the opposite…When I stepped outside, I just felt all the love and appreciation from all the people, so dun talaga nagbago ang lahat,” she explains.
Ashley has long acknowledged the mixed opinions that come with life in the spotlight. She knows some people see her as intimidating or even mean, but instead of resisting it, she embraces authenticity.
Her journey isn’t just about skating through life but about breaking past the limits others set for her and the ones she once set for herself. Her now sleek brown, flowy mane tells the story of her free-spirited nature and newfound confidence. No longer bound by the rigid polish of competition or the need to look picture-perfect on camera, her hair now moves with ease—a quiet declaration of her growth: still graceful, but stronger, braver, and undeniably her own.

“[The Ashley today is a more confident and brave one.]” Ashley adds, “Because of me being [reborn stronger and becoming] a better person, I feel like trusting myself and growing in life.”
True to the Reborn Theory, Mika, Ashley, and AC showed us just how strength can be seen as much as it's felt. Their journey from damaged to reborn is reflected in every detail, from their inner work to the way their hair shines and moves with them, embodying the confidence they've worked so hard for.

Mika recalls a time when she "experimented" with her hair during a period of self-discovery, while AC's hair journey leans on keeping it as vibrant as her personality.
Through it all, Dove has been these young women’s quiet ally, helping their hair tell the story of who they’ve been and who they’re becoming. By making the new Dove Peptide Bond Repair range a regular part of their hair routines, Mika, Ashley, and AC have found a gentle yet powerful way to help restore damaged hair from within.

The collection features the Peptide Bond Repair Shampoo, 1-Minute Conditioner, Treatment Cremé Mask, and Bi-Phase Serum + Oil Spray. It's powered by Dove's new Bond Repair technology that combines bio-protein care and a peptide complex to help restore broken bonds deep inside each strand, with regular use. The Peptide Bond Repair range helps strengthen, repair damage, and bring back that luminous look and feel when used as a regular part of your routine. Because when your hair feels reborn, you return to the spotlight ready, radiant, and unshakably strong.
In each of their journeys, Mika, Ashley, and AC show that to be reborn is to return to one’s true self. Their stories remind us that growth happens in the way you care for yourself, and yes, even in every strand of your hair. When the shift happens within, the rest naturally follows.
