Meet the First Asian Model to Become the Global Face of Maybelline This Taiwanese stunner is diversifying the standards of beauty.

Taiwanese model I-Hua Wu is doing her country proud—and for the record, the whole of Asia. Joining the ranks of Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, Adriana Lima, Christy Turlington, and Herieth Paul, the chinky-eyed stunner has just become the first Asian model to become the global face of Maybelline. Set to appear on the beauty giant’s ads all over the world, I-Hua is no doubt earning her stripes as a supermodel by diversifying the standards of beauty.

Although it isn’t the first time that Maybelline is teaming up with an Asian model (Chinese model Shu Pei broke that record), it is the first time that the brand is being represented by one on a global scale.

In an interview with The Cut, I-Hua shared how much this recent achievement meant to her and her country. “It’s so special that I can represent Taiwanese models and bring them some attention. Lots of Taiwanese models come here [in the US] and work hard but have never been recognized because Taiwan is so small. I’m happy to shine some light on it."

To which, she also added:

"A lot of Taiwanese girls are slowly letting go of giving themselves the pressure to conform to a certain type of beauty. You can’t give yourself such strict definitions of what is beautiful.”

That said, we guess we'll see more of her soon. Congrats, I-Hua!
