"Since bata palang ako sobrang insecure na ko...sa katawan ko, dahil sobrang payat," the singer-actress confessed.

With her humble yet bubbly personality and explosive stage presence, it's not easy to say one bad thing about Maymay Entrata. In fact, her show biz career, albeit still fresh at 5 years, has definitely been a fruitful one. Aside from scoring numerous awards as a TV personality, she's been on the cover of countless local and international magazines and even made her runway debut in Dubai! Maymay is also a recording artist, with her latest single Amakabogera being loved by millions online.

As with every success story, however, Maymay wasn't always the poised performer and actress she is now. Turns out, the 24-year-old was bullied when she was younger, and it led her to harbor insecurities about her looks.

Maymay talked about the bullying in length during a catch-up vlog with her close friend and vlogger Mimiyuuuh. In the video, she was asked by a subscriber if she could offer advice to those who want to be more confident (an amakabogera in their own right, basically), and she told her story in response.

"Since bata palang ako sobrang insecure na ko sa look ko," Maymay shared. "Sa ganda ko, sa katawan ko, dahil sobrang payat. Kasi na-bully ako nung elementary ako, tapos tawag nila, 'ang payatot.' Ganoon lagi."

The effects of the bullying stuck with young Maymay, who then turned to makeup and fashion to feel "kabog."

"Akala ko kapag may makeup, kabog ka na. Kapag maganda yung suot mo, kabog ka na," Maymay said. But eventually, she realized that true confidence goes beyond what you look like. For her, being sure of yourself and your abilities is what matters most. "['Yung pagiging confident mo sa sarili mo] habang buhay mo siyang pwedeng dala-dala hanggang sa pagtanda mo," she explained.

Agreeing with her, Mimiyuuuh couldn't help chiming in. "Confidence starts with acceptance," said the vlogger.
