In the Philippines, standalone salons are often located in older buildings, small commercial strips, or other locations that require a deliberate visit—or, in Filipino, "kailangan pang sadyain." Traffic congestion and inconvenience can discourage customers from booking appointments or making the trip.
As convenience becomes a key consideration for customers, MARK’ed Concierge offers a different approach to the traditional salon experience.
About the MARK’ed Concierge’s Business Structure
Operating a traditional salon comes with considerable overhead costs, including rent, utilities, equipment, maintenance, inventory, staffing, and daily operations. These expenses can make running a salon costly, particularly when its location isn't convenient for customers. With these considerations in mind, MARK’ed Salon transitioned to MARK’ed Concierge, a salon without walls.
Instead of opening more branches, MARK’ed Concierge prioritizes partnerships with existing establishments. This lets the salon reach new communities, explore business opportunities, and make its services more accessible.
The business model encourages salons to collaborate with existing establishments and make use of shared spaces and resources. By potentially reducing overhead costs, this approach could help new salons and existing businesses looking to expand.
There are several ways to apply this approach. For instance, MARK’ed Salon previously partnered with restaurant Guevarra’s to offer mothers complimentary haircuts to celebrate Mother’s Day. Customers could enjoy a meal with their families and squeeze in some pampering without visiting another location.
MARK’ed Concierge also partners with establishments like Couture Studio, which offers hair services of its own. Such collaborations demonstrate how salons can explore alternative ways of reaching customers and expanding their services without necessarily opening new branches.
Could this partnership-driven approach become more common in the local salon industry?
