Mari Jasmine is comfortable in her own bare skin—so much, in fact, that she’s living the “no makeup” makeup look from the inside out. Skincare, she says, “is 90 percent of what you eat and 10 percent of what you put on your face. When you nourish your body with the right things, your skin is better and your hair and nails are stronger. I think it’s also important to listen to your body and see what works for you. For example, I notice that my skin is much better when I decrease my sugar intake.”

Detoxify

“Beets! I use them all the time not only because they’re great for you, but because they are such a beautiful color!”

Hydrate

“Water! Keeps your cells hydrated and flushes toxins from the body.”

Work out

“The best way to boost metabolism is to exercise. Chilis contain capsaicin, which increases metabolism, too.”

Achieve naturally healthy hair

Go for “protein sources such as lentils and nuts, as well as good fats, like avocado.”

Eat healthy

“Eat real, unprocessed food and lots of colorful fruits and vegetables.”

Mari considers a trip to the grocery a visit to a beauty store. Her homemade avocado, aloe vera, and oatmeal mask is something you need to try. “Avocado has loads of natural oils that soothe and hydrate the skin. The oats help to bind everything together and act as a gentle exfoliant when you wash it off.”
