If you're the type to invest in a manicure, then the last thing you want is for your polish to chip right away. A good mani should stay intact for at least a few days—if not longer. However, keeping your digits fully-colored is not 100% up to your nail technician. Like how you don't drop skincare altogether after a facial, you have to have your own polish upkeep routine, too. It doesn't need to be a complicated one either!
According to Chanel nail expert Jocelyn Petroni, a professional manicure usually lasts for around two weeks. To extend wear even further, she recommends consistently reapplying your top coat after your session.
"The day after your manicure, wash your hands and apply top coat. Top coat should be applied after every manicure, every second day for chip resistant polish," she tells Sara Crampton of Harper and Harley. Explaining how this helps, the manicurist says—"The top coat acts as a protective shield and will wear down before the polish does, so the colour lasts longer."
