We’ll just go ahead and blurt it out: Eye makeup is complicated! It’s one thing to get that perfect flick when applying eyeliner, but to avoid looking like a racoon after covering your lids with eye shadow? It is an entirely different matter. But then again, we can’t deny the wonders of eye makeup. It can be a real pain in the neck, yes, but those ten shades of distress always prove to be worth it in the end.
Luckily, we had the chance to attend Happy Skin’s eye makeup workshop with Maggie Wilson-Consunji. It’s not every day you get schooled by a beauty queen on Makeup 101, you know? And can we just say, this celebrity sure knows what she’s talking about!
Oh, and we loved her OOTD!
We had a blast trying out these Happy Skin products, too!

According to Rissa, one of the two geniuses behind Happy Skin, they tapped Maggie knowing that she perfectly encompasses what the brand stands for. “As a beauty queen, she’s trained to do her own makeup. She also makes it sound practical, not complicated, and that’s exactly what the brand is all about. We don’t want our makeup to be intimidating.” And yup, we totally agree. Maggie is so good at eye makeup you’d mistake her for a makeup artist.
Still don’t believe us? Here, check out these makeovers during Maggie’s eye makeup tutorial. Perhaps you can even score some tips!
Maggie’s Tip: I always opt for darker brows, but that’s just me. Normally here in the Philippines, to soften one’s look, they go for a lighter shade. It depends also on your hair color. What I normally do is I have my eye brows dyed the same as my hair.
Maggie’s Tip: If you’re going to buy eye shadow, I think it’s really important to invest in a palette with neutral shades. Sometimes we go for those with purples and greens even though we know we’re never going to be able to use them.
