Makeup trends come and go, but one thing that should remain constant when it comes to beauty is good skincare. Whether you like your makeup matte with full coverage or dewy and lightweight, starting with a good canvas is non-negotiable. Enter MAC Cosmetics’ new skincare line: Hyper Real, a science-backed and makeup artist-approved skincare that not only preps the skin for makeup but actively improves it as well.
Everything You Need to Know About MAC’s New "Hyper Real" Skincare Line
MAC is inarguably one of the best brands when it comes to color cosmetics. But until now, their skincare offering only consisted of primers, setting sprays, and makeup removers. So you can imagine our excitement when we learned they were releasing a new skincare line.
Fun fact: The Hyper Real franchise was five years in the making. It was during the pandemic when the beauty giant realized the growing need for better skincare. But not all skincare is created equal.
Being the number one luxury makeup brand, they came up with a genius skincare innovation specifically designed to work with makeup. “It creates the perfect skin canvas for you to put on your skin artistry,” says MAC Cosmetics General Brand Manager Audrey L.
What’s included in the Hyper Real line?
MAC's Hyper Real line includes three new skincare products, each formulated with MAC’s Pro-4 Power Infusion Matrix that contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, and a rare Japanese peony extract for smoother, hydrated, and radiant skin. Although they share the same active ingredients, each product has a unique role in your skincare.
Celebrity makeup artist, Mark Kingson Qua, gave us a closer look at how to use the products effectively. Glean tips from his step-by-step process as well as the benefits of each product below:
How to use the Hyper Real skincare line?
1. Start with a fresh base .
He pumped a generous amount of the Hyper Real Fresh Canvas Cleansing Oil onto a cotton pad and used it as a makeup wipe. The cleanser has a gentle lightweight formula that retains the moisture of the skin while removing gunk and bacteria. So you get none of that stripping and drying feel.
He then used the Prep + Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray to wipe away the cleansing oil which resulted in glowy, smooth, and supple-looking skin.
