When the temperature rises, it's time for our inner hairstylists to come out of their shells. Because no matter the season, the weather in the Philippines finds a way to sneak a scorching day in, so we either put our hair up or suffer the sweaty consequences. On the bright side, you don't have to stick to your old ponytail all the time, as there is a way to look fresh and neat under the heat. Check it below!
Messy buns are always fun, but Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez is making the case for the sleek look. Here, the ends of her knot aren't as neat as you'd expect it to be, giving it an undone vibe with a fanned-out effect. We asked her hairstylist Renz Pangilinan how to achieve this, and here's his step-by-step guide:
1. Create a sleek bun, preferably low or on the side. Don't tuck the ends right away, and make sure that it's not too thick.
2. Spray on a little hairpsray, then flat iron the ends to make it fan it out. You can section the ends into three to make it just like Winwyn's hair.
3. Gently pin the bun in place.
An alternative to this is a messy top knot, which according to Renz, can be done by folding the hair down after a ponytail. Just add a cool hair accessory and you're ready to go!
