Sunscreen will save your skin!

Our definition of a perfect weekend includes spending lazy days on the beach with a book in one hand and a smoothie in the other. But here's a gentle reminder: lounging around fully exposed to the sun's harmful rays without protection is a big no-no for our skin! That said, follow the advice of certified beach girl Vani Vergara—this PR girl slash ocean advocate has some awesome beauty secrets to help you take care of your skin if you're planning to spend the entire day under the sun and in the water!

"I always start my skin care with the MAC Lightful Softening Lotion, then I move on to the Regenerating Serum from La Mer [which] I use because of all the sun exposure I [get from] my dive trips. I always end with the Moisturizing Soft Cream (also from La Mer) to make sure my skin is hydrated and happy!"

Because Vani spends most of her time scuba diving, her beauty routine has been subjected to regular re-evaluations as well. "I shifted a lot of my products to more natural brands like Origins. I needed to make sure that the products I use aren’t harmful for the environment," she explains. "I also added MAC Mineralize Charged Water Eye Cream to my regimen because all the traveling has taken its toll on my eye bags."

Additionally, Vani mentions that her skin "gets mad" at her whenever she goes on long beach trips. She makes up for it with Origins Charcoal Mask once a week. She also applies La Mer Renewal Oil on her skin to remedy any immediate sun damage. "It’s been working so far," she muses. "I have been able to survive major sunburns with no problem. Most importantly, I learned the hard way that you can actually get sunburned even if you are a hundred feet underwater so I make sure to put sunblock all the time." For that, she uses Reef Safe sunblock because she believes in the importance of "[making] sure your sunblock isn’t the one that kills corals."
