They tend to go on a long, tedious journey to clear skin, as if it was the only way to rebuild their self-esteem. Thankfully, not everyone thinks like that—take a look at beauty vlogger Em Ford, who is known online for the way she embraces her acne-prone skin. Every other photo on her Instagram feed is a no-makeup one, and it almost always comes with an empowering message.

Flashback to two years ago, the London-based YouTuber uploaded a video on the comments she receives for being a beauty vlogger with acne. The short film called out acne shaming, makeup shaming, and basically the conditional treatment people give those with acne-prone skin. It quickly went viral, and it shot Em to instant fame and her advocacy to bigger heights.
