LOTD: How to Wear Green to a Christmas Party Without Looking Like a Tree
And still catch everyone's attention.

There's a very fine line between looking rightfully festive and looking like you got too carried away with the theme. Take Christmas parties, for one. The temptation to debut all your metallics, reds and greens is very strong—and understandably so.

But while there's nothing wrong with feeling the holiday spirit pump like blood through your veins, none of us want to blend in too well with the decor either. So how do you properly wear green sans the plant vibes? Follow Claudia Barretto's example below:

A statement eye is a girl's secret weapon for any holiday party. Because one—it won't rub off when you eat, and two—it just looks super chic in photos. Claudia's olive smokey eye hits all the right notes here, since it tones down the way-too-merry Christmas color using brown eyeshadow that's blended over the crease. You can do the same with champagne hues or gold if it's a high-shine look you want to achieve. The key here is to blend the brights with your staple neutral shadows.

Not an eyeshadow enthusiast? Opt for some colored liner instead! It'll give your eyes a pop of color minus the color theory. Learn how to do it here!
