L'Oréal has tapped legendary makeup artist Val Garland as their new Global Makeup Director. The British beauty maven has been active in the industry for more than two decades, and has made her mark in editorial and runway beauty in the process.
"I can’t wait to get inside the science labs at this number one beauty brand and co-create the makeup that I want to use–and that I think women over the world will want to use too," the makeup artist tells Vogue UK. "I’ve always said we don’t need to spend a lot of money to get brilliant, innovative, superior quality make-up products and L’Oréal Paris proves that. I’m looking forward to the challenge of taking on the creative makeup direction at this global brand."
As for what her new role entails, Val is expected to foresee the L'Oréal makeup's future product developments as well as their succeeding approaches to artistry.
Prior to the assignment, Val was a makeup artist for many years at MAC Cosmetics. She is best known for her fearless approach to makeup. You'll see this in her most memorable creations such as Lady Gaga's Born This Way album cover and her newest obsession—"snogged lips." She was also the mind behind Preen by Thornton Bregazzi's beauty for Spring 2017.
Needless to say, L'Oréal has picked the right woman for the job. Congratulations, Val!
