When it comes to the Oscar awards, it takes a great beauty look to stand out between one girl’s frothy ball gown and the other’s eye-catching plunging neckline. But as we watched the telecast from the recent 83rd Academy Awards, we took notice of one star that hasn’t been on our radar in a while – Mandy Moore. Almost unrecognizable (in a good way), the singer had heads turning in her beaded Monique Lhuiller gown perfectly offset with a sleek middle parted bun and an apt pop of color thanks to some matte orange lips. Kayleen McAdams was the artist behind Mandy’s glow, using Nars products to create the look. “We wanted her makeup to have a strong pop…I was so inspired by all the coral and orange lips on the runway for spring so I did a tangerine version on the lips and cheeks."
First, Kayleen smoothened out Mandy’s skin with Sheer Matte Foundation then added some Copacabana Illuminator for some sparkle while on the red carpet. Next, eyes were done using Corfu and Coconut Grove cream-based shadows for a neutral eye before topping off with Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara. Lastly, lips were painted with Red Square Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, the perfect shade of orange-red, adding enough oomph to the overall muted palette without taking attention away from the gown.
