ON BECOMING #BETTERME
Tell us about your #BetterMe story.
My #BetterMe story started when I was just a normal school girl. I’m really a homebody kind of person. Mondays to Fridays, [I’ll be at] school, and then when it’s a Saturday, I’d go to work in my auntie’s RTW store. During Sundays, that’s when I’d do my assignments. I’d go to church and then go home right away. That’s what my routine is like for a whole year.
What triggered your desire for change?
I used to be really shy. I feel like I’ve been living in a shell that was yet to open up. I always ask myself, can I do it? So eventually I wanted to prove it to myself and to my family that I can. Every time there’s a party at home, they’d refer to me as the cute but shy girl. That’s why I joined PBB so that they can see the real me.
Who were your inspirations?
First, of course, my brother and sisters. They’re really my inspiration; that’s why I entered show business. A lot of people know naman that we don’t have a mom and a dad. I grew up with my lola. My biggest inspirations are my sisters, my brother, and my lola. They’re the ones who continuously inspire me to do good and to be better.

How did Skin White play a part in helping you become a better version of yourself?
In every girl, meron talaga tayong mga bagay na kinakahiya (we all have things we’re not proud of). Merong mga bagay na we’re very shy to show to other people. With Skin White’s #BetterMe campaign, it inspires me and a lot of girls to do better and become better.
How do you constantly strive to become a better person?
With SkinWhite’s campaign, I get to know a lot of girls, I get to inspire them and also become a better me. I’m very thankful to be their brand ambassador because I get to go out and show the people what I can do. [My advice is just to] go out, don’t be shy, and embrace your flaws because that’s what makes you perfect.
Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Zhang Ziyi
Who are your beauty pegs?
Zhang Ziyi, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande. They’re all really pretty and confident about themselves, and I like their trendy outfits, too.
Can you share with us your beauty secrets? How do you take care of your skin?
I have a really sensitive skin. I’m always exposed to sunlight, diva lights, and all those can open up your pores. So right after work, when I get home, I make sure to remove my makeup. Also, every three days, I place an ice bag on my face to help close the pores so that it won’t cause pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and other skin problems. And then after that, before I apply my makeup, I use Skin White Face Cream Powder which contains SPF and moisturizer.
How long does it usually take you to do your makeup?
For normal days, it’s like 15 minutes when I do my own makeup. But when it’s my glam team, it takes about an hour for both hair and makeup.
MAC lipstick in Embrace Me, NARS brow gel and brow liner
What are your must-haves in your makeup kit?
Lipstick and brow makeup. I have really thin brows so it’s a must-have for me.
Do you have any beauty resolutions for 2015?
Siguro kahit super pagod na (even when I’m already exhausted), I really have to remove my makeup. Also, I usually sleep with my contact lens on. I get lazy to get the container and then put solution in it. Sometimes I fall asleep wearing my contact lenses, which is a big no-no.
