Product: Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense Aqua Gel SPF 50 PA ++++
What It Is
This sunscreen has a lightweight, non-comedogenic formulation that promises to provide high protection. Tested in humid condition, it doesn't only defend skin against environmental agressors such as UVA and UVB, it also protects against pollutants and free radicals. The water-light, gel texture is quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving it refreshed and hydrated. It is recommended for normal to oily skin.
I have combination skin, and my skincare routine is pretty simple. I wash my face with Senka Perfect Whip, then use Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel from The Face Shop. I usually work from home and stay indoors, so that’s my typical routine for both day and night on most days. My lips and skin tend to get dry throughout the day, so I use Lucas Papaw Ointment and Nivea Creme as needed.
If I’m going out, I use sunscreen instead of Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel. Before trying this product, I was using Myra VitaSmooth Daily Sun Protect Hydrating Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. I had almost finished the bottle and I was planning to look for another sunscreen with higher SPF, so this was perfect timing.
How I Used It
It was my first time to try Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense Aqua Gel SPF50 PA++++. It felt light, it was easy to apply. It also didn't leave any white residue on my face. It left a bit of a shine, so it could pretty much double as a highlighter, which I found great. Just need some powder on my nose and forehead, and I’m all set.
I like that it moisturizes and protects my skin without feeling greasy. It’s made for humid conditions, which is perfect for Manila weather. It usually takes a few days for any reactions to appear on my skin, and thankfully, this sunscreen is a good fit with mine. A big plus for me is that it’s not a whitening sunscreen, which is what’s usually on drugstore shelves.
The simple, clean packaging is a nice touch. I’d continue using it and recommend it for anyone with combination skin who's looking for a lightweight sunscreen that does the job well.
