The environment and cosmetic companies don't often have a good relationship. The beauty industry may sometimes seem to promote an excessive lifestyle—the constant need for a new mascara, a time to chuck out your foundation for a newer formulation, 24 new lipstick shades, all of which you have to get and the like. But ironically, many base products of these cosmetics come from plant extracts, founded in the very environment they supposedly could be damaging.

To give back to Mother Earth, environmentally-friendly brand Kiehl's launched a limited edition Acai Damage Protecting Toning Mist with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Rainforest Alliance. It's a non profit organization that works to conserve and promote biodiversity and sustainable livelihood all parts of the globe.

Available during the month of April, the spray bottles come in four different designs, with artwork by actress Julianne Moore, rapper Pharell Williams, the children of a community in the Brazilian Amazon, and a personal favorite by the ingenious artist Jeff Koons.

The antioxidant rich Protecting Toning Mist, a refreshing skin cocktail of Acai Berry extract, Aloe Vera Juice and Lavender, works to refine skin clarity, balance skin texture and to tighten pores.

We're all a little to blame in the depletion of the Earth's natural resources, so every now and then remember it's good practice to not give in to an excessive lifestyle, to never hoard more than you need, and to always find the time to give back.
