Kakuyasu Uchiide Of Shu Uemura We had a quick chat with Shu Uemura's International Artistic Director, Kakuyasu Uchiide about their 30th Anniversary collection.

Established Japanese beauty brand,  Shu Uemura, is now 30 years old! To celebrate its 3-decade successful run as one of the leading makeup brands in our country, their International Artistic Director, Kakuyasu Uchiide, paid us a visit to personally showcase the brand's 30th anniversary collection, EYEconic.

1. Shu Uemura’s 30th anniversary collection, EYEconic was influenced by the 1960s. Why did you choose this particular era?

Mr. Shu Uemura opened his very first atelier in 1965. I felt that that was the beginning of it all, so I wanted to pay special homage to that particular moment in time. Aside from that, the '60s were fun, fresh, young and creative times. I really wanted the makeup collection to exude the same emotion and energy.

    2. What are your favorite products from the collection?

The eye palettes are great because they each contain 3 shades with different textures: matte, pearl and shimmer. This way, you can create multiple looks with just one palette. I’m also very proud of the Premium Lashes which are made of a special silk fabric so that they conform to the eyes easily. The design features several colors so that you don’t need to wear much on your eyes. These can serve as your “punch of color.”

    3. What is a beauty trend you think us Pinays ought to try out?

I think that the feminine, romantic trend is huge for this season. I would recommend wearing more baby pink hues on the lips and shimmer on the lids—it will make you look more youthful instantly.
