Jo Malone London has another idea for the perfect summer scent. Instead of releasing a line of citrus and gourmand colognes, the British brand's lineup for the season was inspired by various wild flowers and weeds that surround river banks.
In fact, this entire collection thrives on the unconventional, inspired by almost unheard of ingredients in perfumery like hemlock and willow to conjure a fresh vibe for the season. "For me it was all about natural beauty, creating something very free-spirited, bohemian and wild," says perfumer Yann Vasnier. "Visually, the collection represents a lot of things—a cloudy morning, the mist on the water, greens and yellows, the sun, the leaves, and a bit of smoke."

The collection, called Wild Flowers & Weeds, is composed of five unique concoctions. Hemlock & Bergamot, inspired by the infamously poisonous plant, is a modern powdery floral with notes of bergamot, cucumber, and mimosa (no actual hemlocks!). Cade & Cedarwood is warm, smoky, and comforting, like sitting in front of the fireplace at nightfall. "This scent captures the feeling of getting into the boat at the end of the day," says perfumer Céline Roux.
Meanwhile, Lupin & Patchouli translates the vibrant hues of lupin flowers and the summer season itself in scent form by mixing rose, mandarin, and patchouli in one invigorating blend. Willow & Amber is more mellow, manifesting the grace of a weeping willow through a soft, earthy blend of cashmere wood and vetiver—a fluid and sensual cologne you can wear from day to night. Lastly, there's Nettle & Wild Achillea with its strong sting reminiscent of the nettle leaf's. This last combination adds a clean and green scent to the collection, sharpened by the zestiness of bergamot.
