In past generations, postpartum depression has once been shelved into taboo territory. Now, progress is being made, as mothers—even famous moms—share their unfiltered experiences after giving birth. Take for example the new celebrity momma Jessy Mendiola, who, in a recent Instagram post, shared a powerful message about her postpartum fitness journey and battle with postpartum depression.

In a message attached with a photo of herself donning workout clothes, Jessy bravely shared her experience with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter Rosie on December 28, 2022.
Acknowledging the importance of her mental and physical health, Jessy revealed that she is currently halfway through coach Mindy Rivilla Lagdameo's Caesarean section recovery and core rehab program. She expressed that her motivation to stay fit and healthy stems from the desire to be there for her daughter, instead of a pursuit to achieve a specific body size.

"I want to be able to run and carry her without catching my breath," Jessy stated. She emphasized that the physical changes, such as defined abs, are merely perks that come with her commitment to a healthier lifestyle.
Having previously struggled with body insecurities during pregnancy, Jessy highlighted her personal growth and newfound perspective. “The truth is, accepting your postpartum body gives a huge impact on your mental health. I went through postpartum depression and it wasn’t easy,” she said.

She continued: “We will always have insecurities, that’s a given. But once you acknowledge the strength of carrying a life inside of you for [nine] months, giving birth and caring for your baby while recovering is definitely amazing.” We totally agree!

The actress stressed that the goal should not be to "bounce back" to a pre-pregnancy body, but rather to strengthen and embrace the new body that brought the greatest blessing into her life.
