In The Buff

Less is more with au naturel makeup.
In The Buff Less is more with au naturel makeup.

Minimalists, there's no better time to shine than during the first quarter of 2010, where nearly-nude makeup is having its moment. Though heavy brows and punchy shadows also made their presence felt on the Spring/Summer runways, it's the softer, more casual beauty looks that, surprisingly, turned the most heads.

Center-parted hair, dewy baby skin, neat lashes and berry-stained lips were refreshing to behold (after being inundated with the fierce, predatory looks of months past) and present a cooler, chicer approach to glamour. The fact that they can be done in a flash makes everything that much more irresistible.

Start by washing hair with a purifying shampoo to get rid of any build-up that might leave hair limp; nothing can quite equal the healthy, out-on-my-yacht volume and traction in freshly-washed locks.

Next comes the skin, which should be clean and radiant—not to mention finished up with a sheer, glow-enhancing powder that seems to even up the blotchiest of blotches. Lashes are pampered with a growth-enhancing serum as rehab for past seasons' damage, and cheeks and lips are kissably pretty with a peachy-pink rouge that ties it all together.

The result is sexy yet approachable—which is, incidentally, another one of our mottos for the New Year!
