Local beauty brand Human Nature is taking a new step towards sustainability by opening their own product refilling stations. However, since the FDA has yet to clear refilling for personal care products, only home care items such as laundry detergents and dishwashing liquids will be eligible for refills.
This initiative will start on March 30 in their flagship store in Commonwealth and first mall branch at The Block in SM City North Edsa. The brand hopes to open similar stations in other branches to make the service available to customers nationwide. In fact, they're also trying to encourage more brands to follow suit by starting a petition to the FDA that aims to turn refilling stations an industry standard.
To refill your items, simply present your empty, clean, and dry Human Nature home care bottles. A total of 10 pesos will be automatically slashed off the product's original price at checkout to thank you for reusing your bottle! Take note that this is a permanent service, so you can repeat this process as many times as you want, provided that your bottle is not damaged. Just to give you an idea how much excess packaging these stations will help reduce, the brand shares that one 20-liter bulk refilling container saves at least 40 pieces of 500ml bottles of home care products. That's a one to 40 ratio!
To further diminish waste, you may drop off used Human Nature plastic bottles in store at the designated bins. These will be recycled and remade into home products like chairs, buckets, hangers, and more by the brand's waste management partners.
