When the going gets tough, what do we do? Pull our hair up and get the job done. Some of us have spent years trying to perfect that high and tight ponytail that bounces as we walk, and we know working that elastic isn’t as easy as 1-2-3. Here we show you how to get that Ariana Grande 'do with a whole lot of volume and staying power.
TIP #1: CREATE TEXTURE
If you’ve just gotten out of the shower and your hair is a little too smooth, give it some texture by applying hairspray or dry shampoo. This helps keep it in place so you wouldn’t have to worry about it slipping down the back of your head.
TIP #2: SECURE THE SPOT
Once you’re ready to go, gather your hair in place with one hand and brush out the bumps. You want your pony sleek. When you’ve found the right spot on your head, lace an elastic through a bobby pin, wrap it around the base of the pony, and secure it in by placing the pin though the loose end of the elastic and the centre of the base. Tying it this way locks it in better than a double loop.
TIP #3: TURN UP THE VOLUME AND TAME IT DOWN
If you want to give life to your pony, tease it with a fine-tooth comb and work your way towards the base. As for those flyaways and baby hairs, flatten them out by spraying a toothbrush with hairspray and brush them down.
