Korean-inspired makeup looks are taking the beauty world by storm, including the gradient lip trend that even the likes of Kathryn Bernardo and Nadine Lustre can’t help but sport in their selfies. Just recently, even It’s Showtime host Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla was spotted hopping on the bandwagon.
Style Bible reached out to her go-to makeup artist, Mark Kingson Qua, to school us about this Korean-inspired beauty trend—and it’s actually pretty simple! Here’s his step-by-step makeup tutorial on how to achieve the gradient lip.
“To have smooth bare lips, the first thing you need to do is to exfoliate.”
TRY: Sara Happ Peony Lip Scrub, P1173, Sephora.ph
“Apply a small amount of concealer or nude lipstick to even out the color of your lips.”
TRY: MAC Lip Erase, Rockwell
“Dot lip tint or lip color on the inner part of your lips. The intensity will depend on your choice of color, but pinks and reds are most recommended for gradient lips."
TRY: Banila Co. Lip Lacquer in Hongdae Pink, P675, Glorietta 4
“Use your ring finger or a cotton swab to spread it out and then blend the color in an outward motion.”
"If you want it glossy, coat your lips with a clear gloss after. For a matte finish, set it with a bit of translucent powder.”
TRY: The Face Shop Volume My Lips in Star Shine, Trinoma
