WHAT

Kérastase Fusio Dose treatment and masque specifically for colored and damaged hair.

CURRENT CONDITION

I always get these two hair questions: Number one, how often do you color your hair? And number two, how do you maintain it? To which I would answer: I get a root retouch once in two months (that’s me being diligent, really it’s more like three) and I maintain it by using the right products—shampoo and conditioners that are colored-hair specific and which have no sulfates. I have never been asked though on what treatment I get to keep my hair healthy—or my scalp! Which, in hindsight, is more important, right?

I guess it’s more like me not wanting to know that I have a problem that’s why I’ve never even had one treatment, ever. I honestly thought I was already doing enough by using the correct hair care products. Enter Kérastase and an invitation for me to try its "unique, customized moment of relaxation devoted to your hair" and of course, packaged that way, how could I not go?

HOW I USED IT

The Diagnosis

I had mine done in Teng | Roma, a brightly lit and lofty, industrial-slash-tropical designer Kérastase Prestige Salon.

The first thing they did was make a diagnosis of my current condition with a "profiler." All Kérastase salons have this device and it was made specifically for the brand.

It zooms in to macro levels and gives a comprehensive status of your head situation: the sensitivity, hair loss levels, dryness, hair diameter, shine, erosion, density, and dryness of hair. It also reads your scalp condition, and the good news on mine was….no dandruff!

Bad news though is that my hair is extremely damaged. The photo below shows a sample image of severely eroded hair (top), bottom picture is—surprise!—mine. Aw. It’s a perfect match though, just not Tinder.

The Fix

The second step after profiling and diagnosis is a long relaxing shampoo, which comes with a head massage using the—wait for it—exclusive Kérastase Clarisonic Plus scalp cleaning brush.

A Clarisonic for the head? Yasss! Nodded in acknowledgment to proceed but secretly, was pretty impressed.

Towel dried, I was guided back to my chair to watch the fusion.

There are four different types of Concentré (nutrition, shine, strength, and density) that you can mix with five different boosters (nutrition, brilliance, reconstruction, density, and discipline) to target your specific hair needs. My treatment was a nutrition booster fused with a strength Concentré Vita-Ciment.

From left: Strenght Concentré Vita-Ciment™, an intense reconstructive treatment for damaged hair; Booster Nutrition for very dry hair and the Masque Chromatique, which protects color and preserves shine.

It was then sprayed and massaged onto my hair slowly and thoroughly, section by section using the fingertips. Relaxing and rejuvenating. And then a final rinse off.

CONCLUSION

I have not felt my hair this light, this soft, and this bouncy. I was not a believer of treatments but this has made me into one. Plus, it helps that the whole experience was akin to having a good spa appointment albeit one that’s just concentrated to the head. They recommended that I do two treatments a month to slowly raise my almost dead hair (no coffin for this one just yet, to my relief!) to healthy levels. I cannot wait for my next one!

Fusio Dose treatments start at P1800 and are available in Basement Salon, SM Aura; Toni & Guy, SM Aura      Emphasis Salon, Powerplant Mall; Teng | Roma, S Maison, Conrad Hotel; Kerastase Institute, 6750, Ayala Avenue Makati
