From soft glam to sparkly looks!

Having monolid eyes can be challenging for a beauty junkie like me. There have been instances when I had to overdo my eyeliner just to make it more visible, and creating a smoky eye had been difficult to achieve without ending up with panda eyes.

But as the holiday season kicks in, I've challenged myself to take this opportunity to practice and play around with soft glam and sparkly makeup looks. Because even if most parties and plans are canceled, there are still many ways we can celebrate from home, and maybe putting a little something on can add to the holiday spirit!

If you have monolids like I do, here are some tried and tested eye looks you can try:

1. Less is more

When I'm just out shopping with my mom for gifts or spending the day baking Christmas cookies with my friends, I usually opt for an all-natural, subtle get-up. I would give myself a #wokeuplikethis treatment to enhance a few of my features without appearing overdone. And for me, the easiest way to do this is to pick a warm-toned eyeshadow to give the eyes a subtle flush. I've also added white eyeliner on my lower lashline to make my eyes pop. For the lips, I went for the Korean gradient technique and mixed a warm red and orange hue for a matte stained look.

2. Graphic liner

My style has always been edgy, so I normally play with eyeliners to make a statement. For this effortlessly cool graphic cat eye, I used a red liquid liner for the base and a black one to accentuate the shape of my peepers. For monolid eyes, I would recommend using a smudge-proof liquid eyeliner to help create a variety of lines and make layering easier. I love putting together a Christmas look like this to get into the holiday spirit, especially when I'm taking photos with my siblings!

3. The glitter bomb

Nothing beats shimmer and glitter for a New Year's Eve look, so that's exactly what I'll be going for to jumpstart a shining new year. It's such an easy look, too: I'll just dab gold eyeshadow around my entire eyelid and apply some under the eye to achieve a complete gloss effect. Even eye makeup beginners can pull this one off!

4. Smoke it out

For more depth and dimension, the classic smoky eye is another great look for New Year's Eve. Try to be careful with this one, though, as it could mean trouble for most monolid eyes if you accidentally put too much. I would recommend using lighter shades and just layering them to achieve the look without overdoing it. For my take on it, I selected warm colors such as copper, coral, and bronze. Although these colors would be usually used for blue eyes, they're still perfect for adding drama to monolid eyes.
