This month, we’re all about self-acceptance and self-celebration! In line with our mantra to love thyself, we have none other than Yassi Pressman looking naturally beautiful and overall fresh as she fronts our February cover. And while there’s no question that the actress can rock a plain white tee barefaced, Preview decided to up the ante and give her no-makeup look a playful twist via glossy lids and an on-point highlighting game. How exactly did we achieve this look? Below, her makeup artist Jake Galvez spills the beans.

Since the goal is to achieve an almost no-makeup look, Jake started off with a sheer coverage foundation. “Yassi has very nice skin, but she wants a few blemishes covered,” he reveals. He spot-concealed some blemishes using NARS Soft Matte Concealer and then sealed the deal with a bit of loose powder for setting.

“Yassi’s brows are very bushy already, so I just needed to shade it a bit,” says Jake, who groomed our cover girl’s arches using K-Palette’s eyebrow pencil and Benefit Cosmetics’ clear eyebrow mascara. For the lids, he used a peach-colored eyeshadow for base and then added just a hint of bronze to give it that warm effect. Next is to achieve Yassi’s glossy lids, and her makeup artist used “a peach colored gloss very lightly using a lip brush for a luminous effect.” After curling the lashes, Jake only coated them with a little bit of mascara to open up her peepers.

On our cover, Yassi is sporting naturally flushed cheeks accentuated with a healthy glow. To cop that, you’ll need the help of a peachy blush for the apples of your cheeks, plus a shimmery highlighter that will work wonders on the high points of your cheekbones.

The magic word here is MLBB, and if you don’t already know, it means “my lips but better.” According to Jake, he chose a shade that is closest to Yassi’s natural lip color and then applied it very lightly. Dab it on your pucker for a rosy tinge, but don't apply too much so it still looks au naturel. “[Keep it looking] natural, not too lined, and barely there,” he said.
