Who would have thought that Happy Skin's founder Rissa Mananquil-Trillo was once callled an "ugly duckling"? In her new book, Read My Lips (P450), she shared that she was teased a lot for her morena skin. "When I got to high school, my classmates started picking on me for my looks and skin color," she revealed in her memoir.

However, even when the teasing got worse, Rissa was never disheartened. In fact, she became even more determined. "I guess after receiving so many labels about how I looked, what I did was not only to accept those names and labels," she wrote. "I also chose to transcend them." Hence, the birth of her local beauty brand, Happy Skin—made for Filipina skin.
In the book, Rissa also discussed the life lessons she has learned through the years, hoping to inspire readers with her own experiences. So in Read My Lips, you'll get to peek into the life of a beauty mogul, including the beginnings of her career. Learn all about the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, beauty, and life in general straight from this lady boss.

Read My Lips: What It Takes to Build a World-Class Homegrown Brand will soon be available in bookstores nationwide for P450.
