Growing up, you probably thought that owning one tube of lip balm has your entire lip care game sorted. While that isn't entirely wrong, you should know that hydration isn't the only issue here. Remember when all of us only had three steps in our skin care routines but now we have at least seven? That's exactly how it works with lip care, too, except it's surprisingly a bit more simple. As proof, we put together a quick guide to the products you might be missing out on for your pucker woes:
1. Lip exfoliator
Chapped lips can be more than just a dehydration problem. There might just be too much excess skin staying on top of your puckers, begging to be set free. Pick up a lip exfoliator and use it a few times to slough off the dead skin causing those cracks.

2. Products with SPF
The sun causes too long a list of problems for our skin—our lips included. Dermatologists say that leaving your lips unprotected from the sun can lead to the thinning of the skin in the area, making it look more wrinkled. So whenever possible, use a sun-shielding lip balm that has proper UVA/UVB protection for a healthy, youthful pout!
IMAGE Lazada
Shiseido Lip in Water SPF 18 UV Care, P295, Lazada. Buy it here!
3. Masks
Your puckers deserve a mask of hydration every once in a while, especially if it's put under a lot of stress through the week. And by stress, we mean you forgetting to drink enough water, forgoing the lip balm, and skipping exfoliation. Thankfully, lip masks are a great destresser. Keep a few on hand for emergencies!

Sephora Collection Lip Mask in Shea, P154, Sephora.ph
4. Lip plumpers
What highlighter does to your cheeks is exactly what lip plumpers do for your kissers. They give your dull lips a quick boost by making them look fuller and hydrated, which is usually done by mixing in mint into the formula. Tinted plumpers are by far the best, giving you that full effect sans injections.
IMAGE Rustans
Jane Iredale Paris Lip Plumper, P1250, Rustan's
5. Age-defying treatments
The skin around your mouth isn't safe from fine lines and wrinkles, and even though it's technically not your lips, preventing any issues in that area is still a must. Simply applying moisturizer helps immensely in improving the skin's elasticity, but for efficiency, apply a hydrating anti-wrinkle treatment at night.
