We Asked Girls with Different Skin Types to Try These New Hydrating Masks

There’s no party like a self-care party, so we invited some of our favorite chic and skincare-obsessed ladies for another edition of Preview Girls Club. We caught up with the likes of Glaiza de Castro, Kevin Balot, and Nikki Duque at Raffles Makati, snacking on scrumptious hors d'oeuvres while trying out face masks and skincare products from eco-conscious brand, Origins. The end-goal was to leave with glowing skin!

Origins is a beauty brand "dedicated to well-being—yours and the planet's." The brand evaluates their product ingredients to meet safety and efficacy standards, and calibrates their manufacturing processes to reduce their impact on the environment. Origins offers potent plant, earth, and sea-based products that deliver visible results. Since the natural formula is a given, the girls put the visible results claim to the test at the masking session.

Hydration was the name of the game, and the girls tried the brand's new Drink Up masks. The masks are infused with Swiss Glacial Water from the Swiss Alps to help moisturize the skin with targeted, long-lasting hydration fit for all skin types.

For a quick skin pick-me-up, the girls tried the Drink Up 10-Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot and Swiss Glacier Water, which instantly nourishes parched skin and gives it a radiance boost, thanks to the vitamin A and E in apricot kernels. The mask claims to leave the skin moisturized for up to 24 hours—perfect for a long day ahead. Meanwhile, the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado and Swiss Glacial Water is a great match for anyone who wants plump skin by morning. That’s because aside from the nourishing benefits of Swiss Glacial Water, this sleeping mask helps strengthen the skin barrier with essential fatty acids from omega-3, and brightens with vitamins A, D, an E. Because it’s a leave-on mask, it provides enough moisture that claims to last up to 72 hours.

At the end of the masking session, we asked our guests—all have different skin typesfor their final thoughts on the products. Here are their reviews:

Nikki Duque, Makeup Artist

Skin Type: Combination and Sensitive

Mask tried: Drink Up™ 10-Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water

The makeup artist who arrived to the party barefaced keeps her routine pretty simple. “I’m oily on the T-zone and dry everywhere else, and very sensitive also. I [like masks that] brighten my skin, don’t irritate it, and smell good,” she shares. After using the mask, we thought her skin looked absolutely luminous. Looking at her reflection, Nikki says, “I feel like I’m glowing. I was supposed to go the derma after this, but parang ito na ‘yung derma ko eh. I didn’t rinse it off; I just used the Original Skin Matte Moisturizer with Willowherb on top! I would use this before makeup to prep the skin properly, especially [when I] have super dry skin.”

Kevin Balot, 28, Model and Miss International Queen 2012

Skin type: Dry

Mask tried: Drink Up™ 10-Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water

Using a multi-masking approach, Kevin used both the GinZing Peel-Off mask and 10-Minute Hydrating Mask to purify and soothe her dry complexion. She tells us, “I think the Gin-zing really helped remove the dead skin cells on my face. The Apricot mask made my skin feel more moisturized!”

Glaiza de Castro, 31, Actress and Singer

Skin type: Oily

Mask tried: Drink Up™ Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water

Korean sheet masks are Glaiza’s go-to for hydration, but the Avocado sleeping mask might just be her new favorite. “I feel refreshed. I like the smell of it, and I like that it doesn’t feel heavy on my face,” says the actress as she checked the feel of her skin. “I applied the Matte Moisturizer with Willowherb after, and I think the two go well together because after masking, I need a matte finish. I’m new to this kind of mask, and unlike the Korean sheet masks I usually use that feel heavy, sticky, and slimy, this feels smooth.”

Origins products are available in SM Makati, SM North EDSA (The SM Store), SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia and online via Lazada. To know more about these masks, follow Origins Philippines on Facebook.
