They're our body love role models.

Just like the rest of us, big stars have insecurities. It may not seem obvious with their picture-perfect smiles and well-curated Instagram feeds, but they've also experienced moments of self-doubt in the past. And contrary to popular belief, a good number of young celebrities arenât actually afraid to admit that! In an effort to empower fellow women, these stars have used their platforms to open up about their body image and promote self-love.

Ahead, read about seven Gen Z celebs who have championed body positivity and reminded us to embrace our imperfections:

1. Alexa Ilacad

Having been diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder last year, Alexa has been completely transparent about her difficult journey to self-acceptance. When she finally mustered up the courage to post her first-ever bikini photo on Instagram, she penned a touching self-love caption that inspired thousands of fans. We're also glad to see that Alexa seems to be a lot more confident these days, as evidenced by her unapologetic swimsuit photos and witty clapbacks to body-shamers.

2. Maymay Entrata

Maymay once revealed in a vlog that she used to get bullied for her body at school, leading her to internalize this criticism. She turned to fashion and beauty to boost her confidence, but she eventually realized that confidence goes beyond physical looks. "Akala ko kapag may makeup, kabog ka na. Kapag maganda yung suot mo, kabog ka na. ['Yung pagiging confident mo sa sarili mo] habang buhay mo siyang pwedeng dala-dala hanggang sa pagtanda mo," she shared.

3. Xyriel Manabat

When it comes to former child stars, people can't help but search for traces of their old showbiz personas. For instance, many were taken aback to see Xyriel posting revealing selfies online after she came of age and got dermal piercings. In the face of backlash, Xyriel stood her ground and insisted that itâs not okay to sexualize and judge her merely for her sultry fashion taste.

4. Lorin Gutierrez

Another celebrity who has dealt with body-shaming comments before is Lorin. She's a total pro at handling hate by now! Case in point: She had the classiest response to a rude netizen who called her out for wearing a bikini and asked her to cover up.

5. Francine Diaz

ICYDK, Francine was actually the target of numerous body-shaming comments when she skyrocketed to fame for her Kadenang Ginto role in 2020. Although she initially took these remarks personally, she pushed herself to channel the negativity into her work instead. She also advised other teens to ignore unsolicited opinions and focus on themselves instead:  "Kapag nagulo na 'yung isip mo kasi diyan ka na magkakaroon ng doubt sa self mo and diyan nawawala 'yung self-love. So I say just focus on yourself and huwag mong pakinggan ang mga hindi magagandang sinasabi ng tao sa inyo."

6. Gabbi Garcia

PSA: There's absolutely nothing wrong with being flat-chested. Let's do away with the idea that the size of a woman's chest actually matters IRL. Take it from Gabbi, who's one hundred percent proud of her stretch marks and small chest.

7. Julia Barretto

Similar to Gabbi, Julia totally owns her chest size and advocates for body love. In 2019, she hoarded a hundred nipple tapes at a store (nope, we're not exaggerating) and happily accepted her social media crown of the queen of the flat-chested community. "[Being flat-chested] was never an issue to me, so nagpo-post ako and then may iba na medyo bastos, magco-comment 'flat, flat, flat.' It was never an issue, and mas kumportable ako this way, and mas happy ako sa boobs kong ganito," she explained months later in an interview.
