There's this antiquated frame of thought that once women reach a certain age, they should, for some reason, stop doing a couple of things. This includes wearing two-piece swimsuits, getting tattoos done, and the like. But to set the record straight once and for all, your age should never ever keep you from pursuing whatever it is you want to do!
Constantly proving this is singer-actress Geneva Cruz. Well into her 40s, Geneva never fails to wow us with every bikini pic she posts on Instagram. We're even treated to a showcase of her sultry inks every time she does go to the beach and slip into a swimmie. Curious to decode the real meanings behind them, Preview reached out to Geneva and got the inside scoop on her tatts.
Here Are the Hidden Meanings of Geneva Cruz's Sultry Tattoos
1. A dragon symbolizing her past lovers can be found right by her bikini area.
One of the most noticeable inks on Geneva's bod is a dragon right by her lower left abdomen. Born in 1976, which was also the Year of the Fire Dragon, it just made sense for her to have the mystical creature etched on. She shares that the heart the dragon surrounds actually conceals the name of someone from her past.
"[It's] surrounding a small heart that used to be 'KC,' [the] nickname of my ex-husband. My recent ex-boyfriend was not comfortable seeing it, so I had it covered with a heart out of respect for him. Unfortunately, the relationship didn't work out, but no regrets because he was still a good part of my life, and I love hearts anyway."
2. Her personal mantra is engraved across her lower abs.
Near the dragon is Geneva's mantra in life. The phrase on her lower abdomen reads: "What Doesn't Kill Me Only Makes Me Stronger." According to her, it's a reminder that she's "strong enough to overcome adversity and create perseverance in life." You go, girl!
3. A symbol of her faith can be found on her lower back.
Situated on her behind is a tribal cross, which represents "Faith and Heritage." Geneva adds that it's also used to "ward off evil spirits."
4. On her left arm are symbols of her mother and of her womanhood.
Now, onto the ink on her arms. A calligraphy of the word "mama" with a star at the end is etched on her forearm. Geneva tells Preview, "[It's] a tribute to my late mother, who was the primary key to my success as a professional singer and the real star and heroine of my life."
Drawn around her wrist is a vine of roses, which represents "divine feminine energy." "I am a woman," Geneva says, "delicate like a flower and must be treated with respect and utmost care, even though she is fierce and strong."
5. Designs dedicated to her family are on her right arm.
The celeb mom makes it clear that she is a family woman first and foremost. She represents this with the tattoos on her right arm, the first one being the names of her children, Heaven and London, on her forearm. A little bit above it is the phrase "Familia Ante Omnia," which is Latin for "family first."
6. Three roses are etched on her back.
Carrying on the floral theme from her wrist tattoo, three roses are drawn on her upper right back, with each one standing for "romantic love based on passion, loyalty, and devotion."
7. Her newest ink is a Thai tattoo said to bring protection and good luck.
Geneva revealed to Preview that her newest ink is a traditional Thai tattoo that brings good fortune and protection to those who have it. Known as the Sak Yant, the actress had the five-line design done on the other side of her back.
